God’s Springtime Invitation – Lectio Divina

“Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” Song of Solomon 2:10-13

Come with me

Lord, two doves have perched outside my office window this week. As I work I hear their rhythmic lullaby.

Coo, coo, coo…

I wonder what they are singing.

I imagine they are singing with You, Lord.

Are you inviting me to join in this praise chorus?

I hear You say softly, “Come with me.”

I pause and as they coo, I silently pray with them, “Lord… Lord… Lord…”

Ahhh, the winter has past…the season of spring has come…Your invitation in all of nature shouts to us still hibernating….

Arise!

Come!!”

Come with me, my beautiful one.”

Lord, Your love is my invitation.

I come.

I love the hopefulness and promise in these verses, Jean. Thanks for blessing me with the breath of spring today (even though it's mighty cold and grey here in Nebraska today).

I love this. I just wrote a reflection about Jesus telling the first apostles - Come with me. I need to add this verse to my meditation this week. God bless!

I just know God is constantly calling us. I found it fascinating that I heard Him in the doves.

Thanks for visiting!

I love how He woos us, in whatever form might strike our fancy or get our attention. He is faithful.

Thanks for stopping by Jen. Yes 'wooing" and "cooing' God calls us in many ways.

So glad you linked this, Jean. I read it yesterday and thought about suggesting the link-up...but didn't want to be overtly bossy! ;) Glad you did it without my bossing!

Love those gentle doves and all the symbolism. Wonderful post, Jeanie.

Ah, the life-calling voice of our Lord being heralded in by the springtime! Lovely imagery Jean. :-)

Have a Blessed Day!

This is beautiful. I'm a great lover of words, and my favorites are poetic words. They really do quiet my soul when I read them. I used to wish that I had the gift of writing poetically like you do, but I finally decided that I get more enjoyment from the gift of others shared with me.

Just lovely.

Phil I am so glad we have connected over the internet and certainly love your blog. Thanks for visiting.

Debbie, thank you for your kind words. I will hop over and visit your blog too. Fun to connect with other writers.

You know...

Two doves outside my window would annoy me.

But you?

You see God.

I want to be you when I grow up. :)

Duane, I am blushing. Seriously I do love your writing too. Isn't it interesting we never think we can write as well as others. I am so guilty of always measuring myself and not making it when I look to others instead of only looking to God.

Glad we have met over the internet!

A beckoning dove? One would think you invented this for its symbolism. When a dove says "come," we should definitely get up and go!

HI Ann, yes those doves are real. They were back today in the rain, sitting in a dry corner of the porch, watching it pour and cooing. I love having the bird feeder outside my office window to see them
